FAQs

What Are Venetian Blinds?

Venetian blinds are the classic, timeless style of window blinds featuring horizontal slats. You can easily tilt, raise, and lower them for precise control over light and privacy. They are available in a variety of materials like PVC, faux wood, and real wood, and can be custom-made to fit almost any window. In short, when you think of versatile blinds for windows, Venetian blinds are the original slatted design that works beautifully in any room.

How Much Privacy and Light Control Do Venetian Blinds Provide?

Venetian blinds for windows excel at providing adjustable privacy and light control. By simply tilting the slats, you can manage the atmosphere of your room:

  • Filtered Light: Tilt the slats slightly to let in soft, filtered daylight while maintaining privacy.
  • Directional Light: Angle the slats upward for maximum daytime privacy or downward to direct light toward the ceiling and floor.
  • Full Privacy: Close slats fully to darken the room, but note that small light gaps can remain between slats and at the edges.

Real wood window blinds and faux wood typically block more light per slat than thinner material. If you need near-complete darkness (for bedrooms or nurseries), layer your Venetian window blinds with curtains or consider dedicated blackout blinds for windows.

What’s the Difference Between PVC, Faux Wood, And Real Wood Blinds?
  • PVC Blinds: A durable and affordable option, perfect for high-humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens. They are very easy to clean but can feel more utilitarian.

  • Faux Wood Blinds: Mimics timber grain while resisting moisture and warping. A solid middle ground on price and performance, though typically heavier than real wood.

  • Real Wood Blinds: For a premium, natural look and feel, choose wooden window blinds. They are lightweight, provide good insulation, and can span wider windows with minimal sag. They are ideal for living rooms and bedrooms but should be kept away from prolonged humidity.
Are There Cordless or Motorized Options for Venetian Blinds?

Yes. All our Venetian blinds are available as cordless blinds for windows, which operate with a simple lift for a clean, modern look and added safety for children and pets. For the ultimate in convenience, we will soon be offering remote control window blinds. These motorized options will allow you to adjust your blinds with a remote or app, making them perfect for hard-to-reach windows or controlling multiple window blinds at once.

How Do I Clean and Maintain Venetian Blinds?

Venetian blinds are easy to clean.  For general dusting, close the slats and use a microfiber duster, cloth, or a vacuum with a soft brush attachment. Reverse the slats and repeat.

  • PVC & Faux Wood: Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap; dry immediately.
  • Real Wood: Use a dry or barely damp cloth and a wood-safe cleaner. Avoid excess moisture.

Regular light cleaning will keep your Venetian blinds looking like new for years to come.
